Media Galleries Help

Architecture

Media Galleries is an entirely separate web site module ‘plugged into’ the Memorabilia Zone of the main RMSA web site. A design aim has been to make transition between the two sites as ‘seamless’ as possible, this being achieved by creating special cross-site navigation links, similar in appearance and function, and integrated within the standard navigation tools.

Each of the two sites has its own Site Map with navigation buttons to move from one to the other.

This architecture reduces the size of the main site and improves performance and at the same time allows the Memorabilia Zone content to be managed with no adverse impact on the main site.

Each of the two levels in Media Galleries is distinguished by  two new ‘factory scene’ screen backgrounds: Concorde - Level 2, and Britannia - Level 3 - these levels corresponding to the levels of the main site.

Photo Galleries

The Photo Gallery page contains four advanced photo galleries, each with associated Photo Albums containing themed memorabilia photos. Note that each gallery can contain up to 24 albums and each album can contain any number of photos - more gallery pages can be added as and when required - the eventual limit being the available disk space provided by the web site hosting package.

Photos are viewable by clicking on the desired album located within one of the galleries. Photos can be viewed individually and manually cycled through the album or set as a slide show.  On some albums an audio track to accompany the slide show can optionally be selected. Photo albums can be toggled from default size to ‘full screen’ mode. Note that the size of the displayed image is dependant on the resolution of the original media file which can be quite small if optimised for web viewing.

Browser Plug-ins

In order to run the Photo Galleries/Albums your browser needs to have Version 9, or later, of the  Adobe Flash Player and a recent Java Plug-in version in common with many  other web sites with dynamic content.

When you run the Galleries/Albums, your browser will automatically determine if Flash Player or Java plug-in upgrades are required.  Messages will prompt to download and install any required updates. Before doing so it is recommended to temporarily disable your anti-virus and firewall software before proceeding with any upgrade.  Click on the upgrade link to commence the upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions,  When the download and installation process is complete, close your browser (all tabs) and re-enable anti-virus and firewall software.  Open the browser and navigate to the Photo Gallery page and confirm that the Galleries/Albums open correctly.

Video Galleries

The Video Gallery pages contain embedded YouTube clips, simply click the play arrow icon to commence video playback..  Should the video clip not commence playback, press and hold down the Ctrl key and pressing the F5 key at the same time.  This will clear the browser cache and should allow the clip  to play.
