RMSA News Blogs:
General: The two Blogs contained within this web site are used to communicate important changes/issues associated with the use and management of the web site and also topical RMSA notifications .
It is only possible for authorised members to post and manage topics.
The Web site News Blogs open in an ‘offsite’ browser page to display the blog, to return to the web site, simply close the blog page in the normal way or use back arrow depending on browser set-up.
Adding comments to topics: Topics can be ‘commented upon’ by members as described below:
1) Using the vertical scroll bar to the right of the blog page, scroll down to the end of the topic you wish to add a comment to and click on the button ‘make a comment’. Immediately below this button, enter your name in the box provided and type your comment in the comments box.
2) When done, click on the ‘Post comment’ button.
3) To view existing comments click on the ‘comments’ button which shows the number of comments available for viewing.
About RSS Feeds: RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds are a common web tool to alert web users of content changes to web sites and/or pages, particularly news sites and blog sites. The RSS and Favourites icons can be found in the browser tab bar .
There are 3 requirements to enable RSS feeds:
A) The site and/or page must have an RSS feed.
B) The user must ‘subscribe’ to this feed.
C The users browser must provide a feed ‘reader’, IE7 and later and recent versions of Firefox contain this functionality.
Using RSS Feeds contained in the News Blogs: There is an RSS feed at ‘Blog’ level and RSS feeds at individual ‘Comment’ level.
To subscribe to the Blog Feed (meaning make use of), open the blog page and click on the button ‘subscribe to RSS’. In the window that opens, click on ‘subscribe to this feed’ and click on ‘subscribe’ in the box that opens.
To subscribe to an individual Comment Feed, open the blog page and scroll to the bottom of the topic you are interested in and click on the RSS icon. In the window that opens, click on ‘subscribe to this feed’ and click on ‘subscribe’ in the box that opens.
Subscribed feeds are stored as ‘favourites’ within the browser, click on the orange ‘star’ icon located near to the browser tool bar to open the ‘Feeds’ button and select the feed you wish to follow and unread feeds will be shown - just click on the feed to open the blog page.
Additionally, when you open a web site page containing an unread feed, the RSS icon will illuminate (and beep - depending on browser settings) alerting you to the presence of an unread feed on that web page.
