RMSA Website – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

 

Q1) What is the purpose of the website?

 

The purpose of the website is to provide members with 24/7 electronic single point of access to:

 

ü RMSA documentation and other items of interest to our members.

ü To provide information to other prospective RMSA members including membership application forms.

ü To facilitate communication between members and with the committee.

 

Q2) How do I set up a shortcut to the website on my desktop?

 

Right click on a clear area of the desktop and from the pop-up menu select ‘New’ and then select ‘Shortcut’. In the presented Shortcut Dialogue Box enter the address of the RMSA website – www.baermsa.org.uk – click next to continue. In the next dialogue box enter the name of the web site e.g. RMSA Website and then click ‘Finish’.  A shortcut will be created on your desktop allowing single click access to the website. As an alternative you can set the website as a Favourite in your web browser, or even set the Home Zone page as your browser’s ‘home page’.

Q4) Where can I go from the Home Zone page?

 

From the home page you can:

 

ü Access the main navigation bar and various quick access buttons including Frequently Asked Questions.

ü Access a Quick-Select drop-down page list from which you can select a page to visit.

ü Access Quick Information and Quick Start Guide information by hovering your mouse over the yellow boxes.

ü Be informed of the website current version number and access the Version History page by clicking on the link provided.

ü Contact RMSA by selecting the button provided – this will take you to the Contact Us page.

ü Subscribe to site update notification by clicking on the RSS button at the bottom of the page – you only need do this once – see RSS (Really Simple Syndication) FAQ.

 

Q5) Are there any data protection and privacy issues with the website and/or page content?

 

There are no data protection or privacy issues with this web site because no personal data, email addresses etc are contained within the site.

Q6) How do I contact RMSA Committee Officers’?

 

Navigate to the Contact Us site page and use the buttons provided – if you use a client email program such as Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista) an email compose window will open – if you use a web mail service such as Hotmail or similar, use the email address on the button to send an email to the respective committee officer.

Q8) How do I know what page content has changed?

 

At the bottom of each page there is a ‘date of last update’ which tells you when that page was last updated.  On the Home Zone page, the date shown is always the latest date of any page revision within the site and the site version number is also presented. If you visit the Version History page you will see the page changes for each site revision. Additionally, you can click on the RSS button to be informed automatically, via your browser, of site updates - you only need do this once – see RSS (Really Simple Syndication) FAQ.

The purpose of the Website News Blog is to inform members of notable updates/changes to the website itself or related information.

Q11) How do I access and use the Blogs?

 

The Blogs can be accessed from the two buttons provided on the Home Zone page which will open the Blogs in a new window. Alternatively, the navigation bar or the drop-down quick page select menu can also be used.

 

Q12) How do I comment on the Blog postings?

 

Whilst the ability to post new items to the Blogs is limited to approved committee officers, it is possible for any member to post comment(s) to any posted topics by accessing the Blog page from any browser.

Q13) How do I know when there are new postings on the Blogs?

 

There are several ways of keeping informed of Blog Updates:

ü Regularly visit the Blog pages

ü Subscribe to the email mailing list via the Blog Update Mailing List Form.

ü By clicking on the RSS button to be informed automatically, via your browser, of site updates - you only need do this once – see RSS (Really Simple Syndication) FAQ.

 

Q14) What is RSS and how do I use it?

 

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) Feeds, is a well known web mechanism for automatically informing site visitors of news updates e.g. Blogs and general website updates.  You only have to subscribe once to each feed and you will be notified, via your browser RSS Feed facility.

Q15) What do I do if pdf documents or video clips do not open?

 

On some occasions (and on some Computers), you may experience difficulties opening certain features of this website.  This may be because your browser does not support the website feature or your computer lacks the resources to open the feature.  Browser messages may give the reason why a particular feature does not open. In the first instance try the following key combination: Ctrl/F5 ( hold the Ctrl key down whilst pressing the F5 function key at the top of the keyboard.  This will clear your Browser cache which may then allow the feature to open. If this does not work, please contact the Webmaster via the error report form for advice.

The website is administered by the Webmaster who manages site content and quality issues.
