Website Version 6.0 and later
Browsing Hints and Tips
Version 6.0 introduces a new browsing experience due to the need to reduce
(or eliminate) cases of inadvertent closure of the website during browsing.
Browsing concept:
Your starting point is the Domain Welcome page (www.baermsa.org.uk), this page acts as a launch pad to the content of the web domain. All content, including EasySearch, now opens in a new browser window/tab, the idea is that this welcome page remains open for the entire browsing session. To return to this welcome page just close any new windows/tabs, leaving the welcome page as the exit page from the website.
Hint (1a): If the new windows are displayed at full screen size, just use the ‘restore down’ button (centre button of three located at top right of screen). You should be able to see the welcome page (if it has not been minimised). In this case, the new window can be safely closed.
Hint (1b): If your browser opens new windows in a new browser tab, Hint 1a is not applicable, instead your open tabs will be displayed at the top of the browser window, initially you will see the Domain Page tab. When you open new windows, new tabs will be progressively displayed containing these windows. These tabs should be closed when finished with. Only close the Domain Page tab if it is your intention to close the RMSA website.
Hint (2): Avoid as far as possible multiple daisy-chained windows which can cause your browser to slow down. Close new windows when finished to avoid having too many open windows/tabs to manage.
Hint (3): To make sure you are accessing the latest page version refresh the page using F5 (Internet Explorer) or click on the menu bar refresh icon.
Hint (4): Please appreciate that each browser brand handles web content in slightly different ways, as does different browser versions of the same brand, also your individual browser settings can influence how websites are displayed. Try and keep your browser updated to the latest version to suit your Windows operating system version.
Hint (5): In addition to keeping your browser version up todate, it is important when prompted, to keep the following software resources updated:
A) Adobe Flash Player.
B) Sun Java Platform.
C) Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The above items are simple to download and install, just follow the on-screen prompts.
If these resources are not kept updated, your browser will not be able to handle some website content containing features that rely on these latest updates
